A recent article by the Wall Street Journal highlights a new increase in fees that are being charged by Discover and American Express to users (not merchants, just FYI) that make purchases in foreign currencies. Some banks are also beginning to charge fees to card users that use foreign cards even if they’re made in US dollars. Other card issuers may also follow suit with overall increases to users that make purchases in foreign currencies.
